I went up the lane quite cheerful

Poet Georgia Hilton uses Limerick schoolgirls photo for her book cover.

Limerick school girls

Out of the blue, I received a lovely email from Georgia Hilton, a UK-based poet originally from Limerick. She shared that her forthcoming poetry pamphlet includes several pieces reflecting on her childhood there and she wondered if she might use my photograph Limerick School girls for the cover.

I was delighted by her request and of course, very happy to grant permission. It feels especially meaningful to see the image connected with work that revisits the same place and memories from a different artistic perspective.

I first came upon your photos through a Google search for black and white images of Limerick City. Yours were by far the best I found - so striking, and of the right time period, it was absolutely a no brainer!

Poet, Georgia Hilton
